Women and Wellness Breakfast
The Liberty Hotel Hosts May 14th Women and Wellness Breakfast
More than 170 guests joined Kitty Dukakis and Angela Menino, Honorary Co-chairs, along with Diane Patrick for the Women and Wellness Breakfast for the benefit of The Kitty Dukakis Treatment Center for Women in The Liberty Hotel’s Liberty Ballroom.
Guests enjoyed a complimentary breakfast made possible by the event sponsor, The Liberty Hotel, a gift of stories from homeless women, Homeless Hearts, Life Stories of Women in a Homeless Shelter, underwritten by Commodore Builders.
Kitty Dukakis shared her personal story commenting on the value and importance a lifestyle of wellness brings to lifelong recovery from substance abuse. Kitty is the namesake for the program offered by hopeFound to women who are homeless and in the early stages of recovery.
Linda Henderson, a graduate of the Kitty Dukakis Treatment Center for Women, described the support she received from hopeFound programs enabling her to overcome substance abuse and move beyond homelessness to recovery, employment and housing.
Mary Nee, Executive Director, introduced the audience to a photographic “before and after“ preview of the recent “make-over” of the Center thanking the Franklin Square House Foundation for the funding making the transformation possible.
Presenting the Wellness Initiative in her closing remarks, she invited guests to support this new effort, saying, “Lifelong recovery is about more than sobriety; it incorporates physical, social, occupational, intellectual and emotional programs in the recovery process.
Contributions at the Wellness Breakfast will support the Wellness Initiative. To support the Wellness Initiative, donate today.
