Program Outcomes

Addiction

More than 70% of the Massachusetts homeless population reports significant involvement with alcohol and/or other substances.

  • hopeFound provides addiction treatment annually to 1000 men and women.
  • 72% complete and graduate from hopeFound addiction treatment programs, a rate 111% higher than the state average and 84% of the graduates continue in treatment.

 

Unemployment

57% of people living in local homeless shelters are unemployed.

  • 64% of the clients enrolled at hopeFound’s IMPACT Employment Services are placed in jobs, a rate exceeding national benchmarks of 53%.

 

Housing

80% of Massachusetts homeless resources are allocated to emergency shelter; only 20% are allocated to housing and prevention. Each homeless individual in Boston annually consumes $28,436 in healthcare costs. The same cost is reduced to $6,056 annually when individuals are housed.

  • In 2008, hopeFound housed 159 individuals.
  • 92% of those housed for at least one year kept their housing.
